Inspiring Women of Iowa started in 2017 with a simple idea…to recognize women of courage, confidence, and character, who are making the world a better place. Why does that sound familiar? Because it also happens to be the mission of Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, where we believe society is better because strong women show girls that anything is possible.

The tenth annual Inspiring Women of Iowa Event, presented by Lincoln Savings Bank, celebrates women in our community, while raising support for Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. We’re excited to share with you today the stories of women of Courage, Confidence, and Character, as well as those who make up the community of support around them—Inspiring Advocates for Women.

Inspiring Legacy Award Presentation
To celebrate 10 years of Inspiring Women of Iowa, this award celebrates former Inspiring Women of Iowa finalists and award recipients who have continued to make an impact in their community, creating a lasting legacy.

Inspiring Advocate for Women Award Presentation
Given to a person of any gender who advocates for women’s equality. This may include showing commitment for the development of women leaders, standing up for women in the workplace or community, showing leadership to enhance gender diversity, and removing barriers women commonly face.

Courage Award Presentation
Given to someone who shows immeasurable courage. She shows strength in the face of fear, pain or grief. She perseveres in the face of adversity and stands up for what is right.

Confidence Award Presentation
Given to someone who continues to demonstrate confidence, a positive state of mind that guides her steps and actions. Confidence comes from feelings of well-being, acceptance of her body and mind, and belief in her own ability, skills and experience.

Character Award Presentation
Given to someone who has great character in their relationships and experiences. It is the quality of her actions when there is no apparent benefit to acting well. She shows great integrity in how she treats herself and others.
